gizwiz > The wood construction of the railroad float barge is rugged and symmetric. I just love it when old railroad equipment is restored and accessible, and right in the middle on Manattan too!

gizwiz > The float barge had to be adjustable to meet the track level of the barge car carriers that transported freight cars across the Hudson River from NY to NJ.

gizwiz > This is the machinery that was used to raise or lower the tracks on the float so they matched the height of the tracks of the incoming railroad barge.

gizwiz > Just a few feet from the floating barge loaders is this Lackawanna Caboose. I have a fantasy of being able to rent it for a party. So far I've never seen the caboose open, nor have I been able to find any info on who owns it.
